The challenge

Election night gives a broadcast no second takes. Exit polls, real counts, seat projections and coalition blocs all arrive at once, keep changing for hours, and have to stay legible to a viewer who has just switched the television on.

The idea

Treat the whole broadcast as one interface rather than a run of separate slides. Every screen shares the same geometry, glow and hierarchy, so the audience learns to read the system once and then follows the numbers instead of the graphics.

The system

A touch-driven screen set for the 25th Knesset election: title sequence, exit polls, real results against the counted-ballot percentage, per-party seat counts carrying candidate portraits, regional breakdowns mapped over territory, and live windows to reporters in the field.

The outcome

Produced for Kan 11’s coverage of Israel’s 25th Knesset election, November 2022: one touch-driven screen set spanning title sequence, exit polls, real results, seat counts, regional maps and live field windows.

Role & contribution

I art-directed and designed the screen set: the shared geometry and hierarchy that make every screen part of one interface, the exit-poll and real-result screens, the regional maps, and the live and social windows that open inside them.
The real-results screen: a party-by-party bar list for Tel Aviv over a glowing map of the region.
Regional results are mapped over territory, so a viewer can see where a number comes from.
The polls screen: a pie divided 58 / 57 / 5 between the two blocs and the Arab parties.
Coalition arithmetic reduced to one shape a viewer can read in a second.
The live window: a reporter on air from Labour headquarters in Tel Aviv, framed inside the results interface.
Live feeds open inside the system rather than cutting away from it.
The social-media screen: a post from a party leader shown with its video and full text.
Statements arriving during the night are absorbed into the broadcast without breaking its language.
